a new horizon to medical toxicology in asia pacific region
Authors
abstract
asia accommodates half of the population of the world, which is young and still growing. infrastructures are rapidly developing and its gaps with higher income countries are narrowing. despite the fact that science in asia pacific region is expanding fast, medical toxicology is one of the scientific fields which are still lacking in this region (1). establishment of asia pacific association of medical toxicology (apamt) in some decades ago was a major step to highlight toxicities and poisonings. publication of the asia pacific journal of medical toxicology (apjmt) would hopefully serve as another milestone for medical toxicologists in the region and will promote research on problems that have low priorities in higher income countries. distinctive pattern of drug abuse, natural toxicities and organophosphate poisoning have positioned asia as a unique point for research in different aspects of medial toxicology. apjmt will focus on publishing high quality original studies particularly related to (1) multidisciplinary research between medical toxicology and other branches of medicine as well as joint basic and clinical research, and (2) epidemiology of poisoning in asia pacific region. apjmt is an open access journal which means that all contents are freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. we extend our hands towards all scientists from related fields for their co-operation. your contribution to this journal will be highly valued, and will heighten the impact of this journal. finally, kind supports of prof. c.c. yang from apamt, prof. m. tafaghodi, prof. b.s. fazli bazaz, prof. m.h. boskabadi from mashhad university of medical sciences as well as many fellow toxicologists who had contributed in establishment of this journal are highly appreciated.

The goal of medicine is to prevent harm as Hippocrates pointed out; “primum non nocere; first do no harm”. Has this fact been taken into account in developing Medical Education curricula in Asia?
